The Colombo High Court has scheduled a further hearing for evidence in the corruption case against former Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne for March 24. Today, March 27, the case was reviewed by Judge Ravindra Premaratne. The judge decided to issue a summons for the first witness to come to court and give testimony on the set date of March 24. The Bribery Commission has accused Priyankara Jayaratne of corruption, claiming he caused a financial loss to the government. This allegation is linked to a situation where SriLankan Catering paid Rs. 320,000 after Jayaratne requested lunch for his supporters during the May Day parade in 2014.
