Adjournment debate in Parliament to mark International Women s Day
Parliament in Sri Lanka will begin its sessions next month from March 3. Members of Parliament will gather from March 3 to March 6, as announced by the Secretary-General of Parliament, Kushani Rohanadeera. This schedule was decided during a meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business, led by the Speaker of the House, Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne. On March 3, after the time set for Parliament business according to Standing Order 22(1) to (6), there will be Questions for Oral Answers and Questions under Standing Order 27(2). Additionally, the debate regarding the Order under the Foreign Exchange Act, which was published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2467/67, will take place. The Second Reading debate on the Microfinance and Credit Regulatory Authority Bill is planned for March 4. Following the conclusion of Parliament business and Questions for Oral Answers, an adjournment debate will occur on March 5 to honor International Women’s Day, which is observed on March 8. Lastly, on March 6, several Private Members’ Motions are set to be discussed in Parliament, as reported by the Department of Communication of Parliament.
