Prof. Susiripala Manawadu assumes duties as new Governor of Southern Province

Professor Susiripala Manawadu took on his new role as the Governor of the Southern Province this morning (25) at the Governor’s Secretariat located in Galle. The event saw a large turnout, which included political figures, government officials, and senior security personnel from the Southern Province. His appointment as Governor was made by the President, following Article 154B of the Constitution, and became effective yesterday (24). Currently, Professor Manawadu is the Vice Chairman of the State Advisory Sub-Committee on Radio, Newspapers, and Social Media under the Arts Council of Sri Lanka. He has also held positions as the Head of the Department of Sinhala at the University of Ruhuna and served as the Senior Assistant Librarian there.
