The U.S. Department of Justice released emails on Friday in which Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, alleged that Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, had extramarital affairs. These claims come from draft notes that Epstein wrote for himself and are part of a larger release of documents under a new transparency law. One email, dated July 18, 2013, and titled ‘bill,’ consists of 225 words and was sent by Epstein to himself. It is unclear if this email was ever shared with Gates, according to the New York Times. This new set of records, mainly emails from Data Set 12, includes references to other notable figures such as former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, as well as Elon Musk, as reported by the Associated Press. In the draft emails from 2013, Epstein suggested that Gates had engaged in extramarital activities and wanted to keep these personal issues private. One draft mentioned that Gates had allegedly contracted a sexually transmitted infection from encounters with "Russian girls" and discussed obtaining antibiotics discreetly for Gates’s then-wife, Melinda French Gates, according to the New York Times. However, it remains uncertain whether Epstein ever sent the July 2013 emails to Gates. A spokesperson for the Gates Foundation called the claims "absolutely absurd and completely false." They stated that the allegations show Epstein's frustration and aim to defame Gates, rather than being based on verified facts, as reported by the New York Times.
