The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) announced that their doctors' strike, which began yesterday (23), is now in its second day today (24). The association claims the government has not adequately addressed their concerns. Chamil Wijesinghe, the GMOA Media Spokesperson, mentioned that they will decide on Monday whether to continue the strike beyond the initial 48 hours. Patients interviewed by ‘Ada Derana’ expressed that the strike has caused them significant difficulties, leaving them feeling helpless. In another development, Chanaka Dharmawickrama, the Chairman of the Government Radiological Technologists’ Association, stated that radiological technologists plan to start their own strike on January 28. This action is in response to issues with the Deputy Director of the National Institute for Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation in Maligawatte.
