Dengue fever is spreading quickly in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, following the recent floods and heavy rains. The Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) reported a sharp rise in dengue cases across various Divisional Secretariat areas in the district, leading to increased inspections by health officials. Teams have conducted several checks in the affected regions, inspecting over 400 homes. During these inspections, they found dengue mosquito larvae in various places, including a cinema hall. As a result, legal measures have been taken against the cinema hall's management. Additionally, homeowners who are found to have conditions that help dengue to spread have been warned. The RDHS mentioned that cases have been filed when needed, and red warning notices have been placed in multiple areas.
