Namal Rajapaksa, a member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has criticized past governments for their approach to national development. He stated that recent administrations only focused on their immediate duties and did not consider how to place Sri Lanka on the global stage. Speaking to reporters in Kiribathgoda, MP Rajapaksa acknowledged that while it is easy to point out flaws in previous large-scale development projects, there has been no thorough evaluation of how to best use the advantages of those projects. He called on the current government to work on attracting foreign direct investments and creating jobs. “We cannot create new jobs with high taxes. Investors will not come to a country that imposes unnecessary rules and strict laws. This has been clear over the last decade.”
