Man arrested at BIA while attempting to smuggle in 390 mobile phones valued at Rs. 34 mln

A 45-year-old businessman from Dematagoda has been detained at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for trying to smuggle in 390 mobile phones. Sri Lanka Customs reported that these phones, worth more than Rs. 34 million, were brought into the country without permission from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL). The man arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai this morning. Investigations by Sri Lanka Customs are still ongoing.
