A 19-year-old has been taken into custody for his role in a shooting that happened on January 1, 2026, on Menikagara Road in Koratota, Nawagamuwa, part of the Kaduwela area. Police reported that the suspect was apprehended on January 18 in the Koholwila region of Kelaniya. Initial investigations suggest that he served as the driver of the van used by the shooters to reach the location. According to police, the suspect lives in the Kelaniya area. The shooting involved three people inside a rented house, resulting in one death and two injuries.
