The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development has stressed the need for a wide-ranging discussion with all key stakeholders before finalizing the draft for the proposed National Electricity Policy of Sri Lanka. This issue was discussed during a meeting at the Parliamentary complex, led by Member of Parliament S. M. Marikkar. Committee members working on the National Electricity Policy shared that a draft is ready as part of the National Energy Policy and that they aim to gather feedback from the public and other key stakeholders. They mentioned that the goal of these policies is to provide an efficient electricity supply at reasonable prices. The Chairman of the Committee highlighted that the policy-making process must involve thorough consultations and that input from those involved in the electricity sector, especially from the private sector, is crucial. Additionally, the committee meeting included discussions on the proposed tariff policy alongside the draft National Electricity Policy.
