A Forest Conservation Department officer has been taken into custody by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). He is accused of asking for and accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000 along with a bottle of alcohol. This arrest happened after a complaint was made by a person from Hulannuge, according to CIABOC officials. Investigations revealed that the officer allegedly took the bribe to avoid filing a case about the improper use of land that belongs to a reserve. The arrested officer is expected to appear in front of the Magistrate’s Court soon.
