Airport Customs officers have arrested two Indian nationals who tried to smuggle smartphones and cigarettes into Sri Lanka. The men, aged 22 and 23, arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) from Dubai at 6:00 p.m. on the 28th. They attempted to bring in goods worth around Rs. 15 million through the Green Channel. During a routine check, Customs officers found 420 cartons with 84,000 foreign-made cigarette sticks and 25 smartphones hidden in their six pieces of luggage. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
