Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday evening (22) and is set to meet with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this morning (23). During his visit, Minister Jaishankar will also talk with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath. He flew to Sri Lanka on a special Indian Air Force plane as a Special Envoy of the Indian Prime Minister. This trip highlights India's Neighbourhood First Policy and is part of Operation Sagar Bandhu, which aims to help with the damage from Cyclone Ditwah. The Sri Lankan Ministry of External Affairs mentioned that Minister Jaishankar will depart the island this afternoon after his meetings.
