Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the greatest happiness a leader can experience comes from spending time with the people. In a post on his official Facebook page, Rajapaksa highlighted that the bond between a leader and the public goes beyond politics and is rooted in trust and mutual respect. "Having spent most of my life among the people, I am familiar with their love. This love, free from profit motives, is more valuable than ever. It is not just a political relationship but a heartfelt bond, which is also difficult to break. Attempts to undermine it can make it even stronger," he wrote. He added that throughout his time with the public, he has experienced “the greatest happiness that can be received as a leader” and expressed his respectful gratitude to everyone.
