Iran has announced that it fired a cruise missile at the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, according to reports from Iranian state television. There has been no immediate response from US officials regarding this claim. The Iranian Army's public relations stated that coastal cruise missiles were aimed at the US aircraft carrier. This incident follows a warning from the Iranian Navy to the United States, indicating that the USS Abraham Lincoln is being closely monitored and could be targeted if it nears Iranian waters. In a report by state broadcaster Press TV, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani cautioned that the aircraft carrier would be hit by the Army Navy if it entered the range of Iran's missile systems. He mentioned that the ship is under constant surveillance. This warning was part of broader comments from senior Iranian military officials, who dismissed American influence in the region. Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari, a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated that the "strategic power" once claimed by the US has now turned into a "strategic defeat." These comments come after US President Donald Trump reportedly eased tensions, backing away from a 48-hour ultimatum to attack Iranian power plants. This change followed Iran's warning that any strikes would be met with retaliation against energy and power facilities throughout the region. In response to the US shift, Zolfaqari remarked, “If the self-proclaimed superpower of the world could have escaped this predicament, it would have done so by now. Do not call your defeat an agreement.” These statements also seemed to challenge Trump’s claims on his Truth Social platform, where he said that the two countries had engaged in "very good and constructive conversations" over the previous two days to ease tensions in West Asia. However, Press TV cited a source in Tehran stating that there had been no official communications between the two nations. Zolfaqari reinforced this view, asserting that the time for relying on promises from Washington is over.
