During a press conference at the Iranian Embassy in Colombo, Iranian Ambassador Dr. Alireza Delkhosh reaffirmed Iran's dedication to its partnership with Sri Lanka and highlighted ongoing cooperation between the two nations. In his remarks to the media, Ambassador Delkhosh referred to Sri Lanka as a friendly country and assured that Iran is open and supportive toward its allies. He mentioned that the Strait of Hormuz is accessible for ships from friendly nations, including Sri Lanka, and confirmed that Iran is ready to meet their needs. The Ambassador also indicated that Iran is willing to provide essential supplies, such as oil, if Sri Lanka requires it. He stressed Iran's readiness to help Sri Lanka during difficult times and pointed out the importance of maintaining strong relations between the two countries. “We do not want to see Sri Lanka in trouble, and the people of Sri Lanka are highly esteemed and respected in Iran,” Dr. Delkhosh stated, highlighting the goodwill and respect shared by both nations. These comments show Iran's intention to enhance economic and diplomatic ties with Sri Lanka while promising ongoing support. Additionally, the Ambassador mentioned that Iran has set up a robust infrastructure to assist and protect foreign nationals living in the country. He reported that there have been no issues affecting them so far and emphasized that all necessary steps are taken to ensure their safety. He also added, “If they wish to return to their countries, we can help arrange their travel through neighboring countries, such as Turkey.”
