An Iranian lawmaker, Alaeddin Boroujrrdi, stated on state television today that Iran is charging some ships that pass through the Strait of Hormuz a fee of $2 million (£1.5 million). He mentioned that a "new governing regime" is being established in the Strait and noted that "war has costs." Boroujrrdi emphasized this as evidence of the "authority and right that the Islamic Republic of Iran possesses." The BBC has not been able to confirm this toll independently.
