Two LP gas ships arrive in Sri Lanka
Two liquefied petroleum gas ships arrived this morning (18) at the gas unloading terminal in Thaldiyawatta, Uswetakeiyawa. Unloading has already started at the depot, according to a reporter from Ada Derana. A fuel tanker also came to Sri Lanka earlier today. In a media briefing yesterday (17), President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that Sri Lanka imported 38,000 metric tons of LP gas this month. Another shipment of 33,000 metric tons is expected to arrive in the next two days, which will help meet local demand. The President noted that the country's initial gas requirement for March was 33,000 metric tons. However, due to a private supplier cutting back on deliveries, the government ordered 38,000 metric tons from Litro Company. This shipment has now arrived, with some gas already on the market, some stored in local warehouses, and the rest kept safely in depots in the Maldives. Another LP gas shipment is on the way and should reach Sri Lanka between March 19 and 20, further easing any possible shortages. President Dissanayake assured citizens that the next gas supply is planned for April 21 to 23, stressing that the chances of a gas market crisis are low. This action is viewed as a strong move by the government to ensure that LP gas is available, avoid supply issues, and fulfill the needs of homes and businesses throughout the country.
