Two female Development Officers were arrested by the Aranayake Police for allegedly keeping relief supplies meant for families affected by Cyclone Ditwah at their homes. According to the police, one of the arrested officers was also the storekeeper for the Aranayake Divisional Secretariat. These relief items were provided by the government and various organizations to help families impacted by the disaster. The investigation began after Kegalle Additional District Secretary Dilith Nishantha received information about the situation, and it was supervised by Kegalle District Secretary Jagath M. Herath. During a joint operation by officers from the District Secretariat and the Aranayake Police, the hidden relief supplies were found in the officers’ homes. As a result, the two women were taken into custody. Further investigations are ongoing under the oversight of Kegalle's Senior Superintendent of Police, and authorities plan to evaluate the worth of the seized relief items.
