US President Donald Trump stated that "one way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!" In a message on his platform Truth Social, he expressed hope that China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the UK will send naval ships to this important shipping route so that it will "no longer be a threat" from Iran. He mentioned that many nations will be dispatching warships to keep the shipping lane "open and safe." Meanwhile, he noted that the US will be "bombing the hell out of the shoreline and continually shooting Iranian boats and ships out of the water." Trump asserted that the US has "destroyed 100% of Iran’s military capability," but he also said it is still "easy" for Iran to use drones, mines, and short-range missiles. Iran’s representative in Geneva, Ali Bahrani, responded by saying that Trump's statements about dismantling Tehran’s capacities are "based on fabricated lies."
