Iranian authorities have detained 20 individuals in Urmia, the main city of West Azerbaijan Province, on charges of spying and working with Israeli intelligence, according to the Tasnim News Agency. The local prosecutor stated that security forces have identified and shut down multiple networks of mercenaries associated with Israel. “These suspects worked with the Zionist enemy by providing information on the locations of military, police, and other security facilities,” the official informed the agency. All 20 suspects are now in custody following court orders, and an investigation is in progress. In related news, the Israel Defense Forces reported that Iran has fired missiles towards Israel. They confirmed that defensive systems are in place to intercept the threat and that precautionary alerts have been sent to mobile phones in impacted areas. The public has been advised to seek shelter and stay there until further notice. The Iranian Fars News Agency, connected to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, also noted that a new wave of missiles has been launched from Iran, while the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has reportedly fired missiles or drones towards northern Israel.
