Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has returned to Sri Lanka after an official trip to Manila, Philippines, upon the invitation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). She arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last night (11), according to the Office of the Prime Minister. During her time in Manila, Prime Minister Harini gave a keynote speech at the International Women’s Day event held at the ADB Headquarters. In addition to the event, she had meetings with various Ministers from the Philippine government to enhance cooperation and strengthen the relationship between Sri Lanka and the Philippines in key areas. The Prime Minister also met ADB President Masato Kanda, where they reaffirmed the solid partnership between Sri Lanka and the Asian Development Bank. Moreover, she engaged with Sonny Angara and officials from the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines (CHED) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). They discussed ways to improve Sri Lanka–Philippines cooperation in education. The discussions included sharing best practices in education policy, teacher training, curriculum changes, digital learning, collaboration in higher education, research partnerships, and technical and vocational training, as reported by the Prime Minister’s Media Division.
