A former Chief Accountant of the Civil Security Department (CSD) was taken into custody this morning (11) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). He faces charges for illegally gaining assets. Officials state that he is suspected of having accumulated assets worth Rs. 4,428,305.70, which are much greater than his legal income. This accumulation reportedly occurred between March 31, 2011, and August 3, 2013, violating Section 23(A)(1) of the Bribery Act. The suspect is set to appear in front of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
