The Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel has cautioned Sri Lankan migrant workers about the dangers of responding to unfamiliar messages on social media or via email. Nimal Bandara, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel, emphasized the need for workers to stay alert due to the threat of cyber-attacks. He mentioned that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East involving Israel, Iran, and the United States has been escalating over the past 11 days. The Ambassador reported that air-raid sirens sounded seven times last night as missiles were fired at Israel. He pointed out that these missile strikes typically target military and communication facilities. In light of the heightened security risks, Israeli officials have also advised against opening unknown emails, links, or social media messages, particularly if they originate from unrecognized accounts or numbers, as these could be attempts to execute cyber-attacks. Consequently, the Embassy has urged Sri Lankan workers in Israel to be extremely careful when using digital communication tools during this challenging time.
