18-month-old toddler dies after falling into pond near daycare centre

An 18-month-old toddler has tragically passed away after reportedly falling into a pond near the daycare centre he attended. The child was from the Kadamadiththa area in Medamulana. Reports indicate that his mother had dropped him off at the daycare before heading to work. Later, the daycare manager contacted her and requested that she come to Middeniya Kariyamadiththa Hospital. Upon her arrival, she learned that her son had died after falling into the pond next to the daycare. The daycare manager, accused of failing to ensure the child's safety, has been arrested by Embilipitiya Police and was remanded in custody after appearing in court.
