In February 2026, Sri Lanka received USD 729 million in remittances from workers abroad, as reported by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). This number shows an increase from USD 548.1 million in February 2025, marking a rise of USD 180.9 million year-on-year. However, there was a small decline from January 2026, when remittances were USD 751.1 million. Additionally, the Central Bank noted that total remittances for January and February 2026 reached USD 1.48 billion. This amount reflects a 32 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
