Minister orders immediate probe into Jaffna boat accident
The Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Ramaligam Chandrasekar, has called for an urgent investigation into the boat accident that occurred in Jaffna today (06). He has asked the Sri Lanka Navy and other relevant agencies to work together to find out what caused the incident. The Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and promised that the government will offer all necessary help and support to those affected, according to a statement from the Ministry of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources. The Minister has made several important requests regarding the accident. He has asked for a thorough report to find out if the boat was safe to sail, whether it carried more passengers than allowed, and if proper safety rules were followed. He has also instructed the Police and the Sri Lanka Navy to ramp up search and rescue efforts for anyone still missing at sea, using all available resources promptly. Additionally, the Minister has checked on the condition of those who were hospitalized after the accident and has directed health officials to ensure that the injured receive the best medical care possible.
