Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Aruna Jayasekera, spoke in Parliament today (06) about the important weeks ahead for the country due to rising military tensions in the Middle East. He warned that there might be delays in essential services soon. These delays could happen because of restrictions on sea and air travel caused by the ongoing conflict. The Deputy Minister also mentioned that the government is extending the current State of Emergency to keep essential services running smoothly during these global issues. He said, “The ongoing conflict has caused restrictions on maritime and air transport. As a result, we may experience delays in the delivery of the essential services we expect. The next few weeks will be critical. We need to focus on managing these essential services, which is why we decided to extend the State of Emergency.”
