Sajith Premadasa, the Leader of the Opposition, emphasized that the ongoing violence and conflict in the Middle East poses a serious risk to global peace and security. He strongly condemned the escalation of fighting, particularly attacks on countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Premadasa highlighted the importance of protecting the lives of over one million Sri Lankans who work in the Middle East, stressing that the war must be avoided at all costs. He called for an immediate halt to the conflict and urged for peace talks and negotiations to begin quickly. Premadasa also appealed to world leaders to prioritize peace.
