Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Neththikumara has instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to return gold, gemstones, and other items that were taken from a house in the Mahawila Gardens area of Dematagoda. This house is associated with a suspect involved in the Easter Sunday terror attacks. The confiscated items belonged to Ibrahim Ilham Ahmed, the second suspect in the case concerning the bombings. According to the Magistrate's order, the CID must return these items to Iflal Ahmed, the brother of the suspect, within one week. Magistrate Isuru Neththikumara highlighted that a previous Magistrate had already allowed time for objections to be made and warned the CID that failing to follow this order could lead to legal consequences for contempt of court. This ruling came after Iflal Ahmed's lawyer filed a request for the release of the items. Iflal Ahmed claimed ownership of the seized property. Ibrahim Ilham Ahmed is linked to the attack on the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo on Easter Sunday. Inshaf Ahmed, who was also involved, died in a bomb explosion at the Dematagoda home, along with his wife, Jifri Fathima. The Magistrate pointed out that another judge had previously asked the CID to provide a report on the earlier order, but the CID did not follow through. Thus, the judge ordered the items to be returned within a week. Please note that due to legal restrictions, comments have been disabled on all articles related to ongoing court cases.
