Police have taken into custody a man suspected of being a contract killer. He is accused of agreeing to murder a police informant who helped authorities seize a large amount of drugs. The plan included leaving the informant's severed head at the home of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rohan Olugala, who led the investigation. Officers from the Police Western Province North Crime Division made the arrest. On November 12 last year, the Western Province North Crime Division carried out an operation at Kirinda Beach. This operation led to the seizure of about 350 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ICE). The raid was based on intelligence from ASP Rohan Olugala, and it also resulted in the arrest of seven individuals involved in drug trafficking. Investigations showed that the confiscated drugs were linked to “Angoda Priyantha,” a well-known drug trafficker currently hiding in Dubai. After the police seized the drugs, this trafficker reportedly held a serious grudge against the informant. It was reported that “Angoda Priyantha” identified the person who tipped off ASP Olugala. Once he knew who the informant was, he allegedly hired a criminal gang to kill him and to send his severed head to ASP Olugala’s house. The informant, realizing that dangerous individuals were following him, had reportedly fled his home. Acting on information provided by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Kalinga Jayasinghe, who oversees the Western Province North, police managed to intercept and arrest the suspected contract killer.
