A student taking the Ordinary Level (O/L) examination was hospitalized after her father allegedly assaulted her. Today (23), she sat for her Mathematics paper with help from the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Aluthgama Police. The girl, from Dharga Town, is participating in this year's G.C.E. Ordinary Level exams. After her exam on Saturday, she went to a friend's house with her younger sister, who is in Grade 10. They returned home late, which upset their father, who reportedly attacked both of them, according to police reports. Following the incident, the sisters filed a complaint with Aluthgama Police. The Children and Women’s Bureau took their statements and admitted them to Aluthgama Hospital. They were later moved to Nagoda Teaching Hospital for more care. After the OIC was informed about the situation, plans were made for the elder sister to take her Mathematics exam today. A police jeep, with two female officers, took her to the exam center along with food, stationery, and other needed items, after getting permission from hospital officials. Once the exam ended at 4:10 p.m., she was escorted back to Nagoda Teaching Hospital under police protection. The sisters have been living with their father without their mother's support and are currently receiving medical treatment. Police are searching for the father, who is reportedly hiding after the incident.
