President Anura Kumara Dissanayake left Sri Lanka to attend the AI Impact Summit 2026 after receiving a special invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi this afternoon (17). At the airport, he was greeted warmly by Minister of State Shri Raj Bhushan Choudhary and other officials, according to the President’s Media Division. The AI Impact Summit 2026 will take place in New Delhi and will focus on how to use Artificial Intelligence responsibly for the good of humanity. President Dissanayake is set to speak at the summit on February 19, as stated by the PMD. During his trip, he is also expected to have discussions with Prime Minister Modi and other state leaders. The President is accompanied by Senior Adviser on the Digital Economy Hans Wijayasuriya and Secretary to the Ministry of Digital Economy Waruna Sri Dhanapala. The five-day summit will gather Heads of State from 20 countries and representatives from over 45 nations. It will include in-depth discussions about the future of artificial intelligence technologies and how they can help solve global issues. While in India, the President is anticipated to engage in talks with several world leaders.
