The Ministry of Public Security has advised passport applicants to avoid visiting the Department of Immigration and Emigration's main office in Battaramulla and its regional offices tomorrow, the 13th, due to a continuing computer system failure. According to the Ministry, regular services are set to restart on Monday, the 16th, with today’s applicants receiving priority when operations resume. Earlier today, the processing of passports and visas was temporarily halted because of a technical problem within the Department’s system. The Department confirmed that the issuance of both passports and visas will continue on Monday after the system is fixed.
