Parliament will meet from February 17 to February 20, 2026, as decided in a recent Committee on Parliamentary Business meeting led by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne on February 6, 2026. The Secretary General of Parliament, Kushani Rohanadeera, announced the schedule. Each day, Parliament will hold sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for parliamentary business, as outlined in Standing Order 22 (1) to (6). Questions for Oral Answers will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by Questions under Standing Order 27(2) from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Second Reading of the Parliamentary Pensions (Repeal) Bill will be discussed from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., a Motion will be introduced to form a Select Committee of Parliament. This committee will review election laws and provide proposals and recommendations. Following this, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., there will be time for Questions at the Adjournment Time. On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Parliament will debate three Orders under the Special Commodity Levy Act, a Resolution under the Customs Ordinance (Chapter 235) published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2464/15, and two Regulations under the Motor Traffic Act (Chapter 203). Afterward, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., there will be a Government Motion for discussion at the Adjournment Time. Then, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Second Reading of the Judicature (Amendment) Bill and the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs (Amendment) Bill will be up for debate from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
