A meeting of the High-Level Committee for Foreign Relief Aid Coordination (HL-FRAC) took place at the Parliament Complex. This gathering was led by Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), the Deputy Minister of Defence. The purpose of the meeting was to assess how foreign relief aid is managed and to put in place strong measures that ensure transparency and efficiency in all relief efforts. Members of the committee discussed ways to distribute and allocate aid fairly and clearly, making sure it reaches the right communities while also improving future supply management, according to the Ministry of Defence. The Deputy Minister of Defence highlighted the need for coordinated efforts, stressing the importance of working together with all relevant agencies to make the best use of foreign relief aid. He reiterated the government's dedication to enhancing the coordination of relief efforts to ensure they are effective, accountable, and responsive. He also instructed the committee to send all necessary reports and information to the Presidential Secretariat promptly. The meeting included committee members, senior officials from the Disaster Management Centre, the Deputy Minister of Defence's office, and representatives from the Presidential Secretariat and Sri Lanka Customs.
