The Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure has revealed that agreements to boost the daily wages of estate workers will be signed tomorrow, the 30th, with regional plantation companies. This decision comes after proposals in the 2026 Budget, where the President approved raising the daily wage for estate workers to Rs. 1,750. As a result, the basic daily wage will increase from Rs. 1,350 to Rs. 1,550, with an extra Rs. 200 provided by the government as a daily attendance allowance. The government has set aside Rs. 5,000 million in the 2026 budget to support this wage increase.
