Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced that the government is ready to discuss the no-confidence motion that the opposition plans to present against Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on January 22 and 23. While speaking in Parliament, Dr. Jayatissa mentioned that if the opposition is unprepared for the debate on those dates, they could instead hold a discussion about education reforms this Thursday and Friday. However, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa responded by stating that the timing for the no-confidence motion debate should be determined by the opposition, not the government. He emphasized that the opposition is not prepared to debate the motion on the dates set by the government.
