Businessman arrested at BIA while attempting to smuggle Kush
A businessman from Sri Lanka was taken into custody at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while trying to smuggle a shipment of 'Kush' cannabis valued at approximately Rs. 1 million into the country. Officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) arrested him after a search was conducted based on suspicions at Katunayake Airport this morning (20). The man, who runs a food retail business in Maradana, Colombo, allegedly bought the 'Kush' in Malaysia. He arrived at BIA around 12:45 a.m. today (20) on a Singapore Airlines flight from Singapore. During the inspection, officials found 1 kilogram and 24 grams of 'Kush' hidden in three packages within his hand luggage. The arrested individual, along with the confiscated drugs, is set to appear in front of the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today.
