Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has confirmed that the current education reform process in Sri Lanka will continue as planned, stating that the government will not retreat from its commitment to making significant changes in the education system. Speaking to education officers and school principals in Puttalam today (17), the Prime Minister emphasized that the reform initiatives already set in motion will be fully carried out. She explained that the education reform is a long-term effort, with ongoing actions to enhance facilities, hire teachers and principals, and provide digital technology resources. Dr. Amarasuriya highlighted the importance of building trust between the government and education officials, despite objections from a small group with limited goals. She stated that this reform process is crucial for the future of children and the long-term development of the country, making public confidence vital. The Prime Minister also mentioned that funding has been allocated for special initiatives as part of the education transformation plan. She noted that within the first two months, selected secondary schools will receive digital education tools, including infrastructure like interactive screens and internet access.
