A 77-year-old female Buddhist monk has died from injuries after being struck by a bus while crossing the road at the Minnana junction on the Avissawella-Ratnapura road. The accident occurred yesterday (15) when the bus was traveling from Avissawella to Eheliyagoda, according to police reports. After the accident, the monk was first taken to Eheliyagoda Hospital and then moved to Ratnapura Teaching Hospital for more treatment, where she later passed away from her injuries. The monk lived at a monastery in the Getahetta area. Police have arrested the bus driver involved in the incident, and the Eheliyagoda Police are continuing their investigation.
