President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has named Dr. Mahinda Parakrama Dissanayake as his advisor on Maritime, Ports, and Logistics, effective immediately, as reported by the President’s Media Division (PMD). Dr. Dissanayake received his appointment letter this morning (08) at the Presidential Secretariat from the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake. He is an expert in maritime affairs, logistics, and corporate management. Dr. Dissanayake is currently the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Aitken Spence PLC, where he also holds several senior roles. He has served as Secretary to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Southern Development and has been the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on two occasions, according to the statement. An expert respected internationally, Dr. Dissanayake has worked with the UN/UNCTAD Panel as a shipping specialist. He has held important positions in professional organizations, including the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (Sri Lanka) and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (Sri Lanka). He has received numerous national and international awards for his work in the shipping and logistics fields, the statement noted. Dr. Dissanayake officially began his new role today (08).
