A depression in the Bay of Bengal is expected to reach Sri Lanka tomorrow, September 9, between 5:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., according to the Director General of the Meteorology Department, Athula Karunanayake. During a special media briefing at the Department of Government Information today, Karunanayake mentioned that the depression is currently about 350 kilometers away from Pottuvil. He explained that this weather system is developing into a deep depression and is anticipated to make landfall in Sri Lanka between Kalmunai and Hambantota.
