The Department of Agriculture in Sri Lanka has released a report detailing the subsidies and compensation for crops affected by Cyclone Ditwah. The report reveals that payments have been made to 66,965 farmers who grow paddy and 16,869 farmers who cultivate other types of crops. A total of Rs. 4,982 million has been allocated for 33,215 hectares of paddy land belonging to these farmers. Additionally, applications have been received for nearly 50,000 hectares of paddy land, and the Department plans to process payments for all approved applications by December 30, 2025. In another update, Rs. 670 million has been provided to 16,869 farmers for losses related to other food crops, vegetables, and fruits, covering 3,708 hectares of land.
