A Sri Lankan man was taken into custody on Monday, December 22, after he held a utility knife to his neck outside a Yoshinoya restaurant near Shinagawa Station in Minato-ku, Tokyo. The individual suffered cuts on his hand and neck but was still alert. Police quickly secured the area, spoke with him, and convinced him to put down the knife. Fortunately, no one nearby was injured. The event happened around 10:30 a.m. when an officer noticed the man with the knife and called for additional support. Over ten officers arrived at the location outside the restaurant and managed the situation. After he complied, the man was arrested on suspicion of breaking Japan’s Firearms and Swords Control Law.
