The Sri Lanka Navy captured a multi-day fishing vessel in the southern seas yesterday (23), discovering 21kg of heroin and 172kg of crystal methamphetamine, known as ‘Ice’. The estimated value of the drugs exceeds Rs. 2 billion. This fishing vessel, along with the 11 sacks containing the narcotics, arrived at the Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour today (24) at about 6:00 a.m. Five people onboard the vessel were arrested, all of whom live in Dondra. Initial investigations indicate that the vessel left Gandara on December 9.
