SLCERT advises caution in buying and selling online due to increase in scams

The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) has reported a rise in financial scams involving people pretending to sell products online. Nirosh Ananda, the Chief Information Security Engineer at SLCERT, emphasized that before making any online purchases, individuals should gather trustworthy information about the seller. Ananda also mentioned that there have been recent complaints about scams related to offering financial help to those affected by disasters. As a result, the public is advised to be cautious when buying online, especially during the festive season.
