The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has extended the Level 3 ‘Red’ landslide warnings for seven Divisional Secretariat areas in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. This means that residents in the Udadumbara, Medadumbara, and Minipe areas of Kandy District, as well as those in Nildandhahinna, Mathurata, Hanguranketha, and Walapane areas in Nuwara Eliya District, should remain alert. Senior Scientist Hasali Hemasinghe from the NBRO mentioned that warnings have also been issued for several areas in the Badulla, Kurunegala, and Matale districts. Additionally, the Department of Meteorology has forecasted some rain in the Uva province and the Ampara, Batticaloa, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Hambantota districts today, the 22nd. Other parts of Sri Lanka will mostly see fair weather. The Met Department also reported that fairly strong winds, reaching about 40 km/h, could occur at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills and in the North-western province, as well as in the Ampara, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts.
