A firearm made abroad and a stash of ammunition were found thanks to information given by “Kehelbaddara Padme,” a member of an underworld gang who is currently under a detention order. The Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) discovered that the weapon and other belongings of the suspect had been hidden in Sri Lanka by another criminal who is now overseas. The recovered items include a foreign-made pistol, two magazines for T-56 weapons, and 267 live rounds of T-56 ammunition. They were located in a makeshift room along the road connecting Enderamulla and the Colombo–Negombo main road during a search by the officers. This operation involved the CID along with support from the Special Task Force (STF) from the Kelaniya camp. “Kehelbaddara Padme,” who was returned to Sri Lanka from Indonesia, remains in custody as investigations continue. The CID is carrying out further inquiries.
