LNP – No intention to increase fuel prices, says Gammanpila

There is no intention to increase the fuel prices in the near future, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila assured.

He expressed these views after a meeting which held between Government affiliated parties and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last night.

“We are among the very few countries that has not increased fuel prices when the prices are soaring in the global market,” he pointed out.

“Despite global fuel prices are on the rise, we are trying our best not to increase the prices of fuel since we have clearly understood the burden that the people shoulder these days,” the Minister said.

He proceeded to state that there is no fuel shortage in Sri Lanka as well.

However, the Lanka IOC was compelled to increase its retail selling prices of both Diesel (Lanka Auto Diesel) and Petrol (LP 92 ) by Rs. 5 per litre from midnight October 21 due to massive losses it suffered due to the drop in sale of both types of fuel.
